As we continue to grow, so too does our team. We are looking for the right candidate to take on the role of Project Controller . This is a Full-Time role, based in our Port Macquarie Shipyard on the beautiful Hastings River in Port Macquarie, NSW.
Position Overview
The Project Controller will be instrumental in assisting the both the Master Scheduler and Finance Team in development, implementation, progressing, analysis and reporting on Project schedule and costs for projects at the Port Macquarie site.
Key Accountabilities :
The key accountabilities for this role include:
§ A significant part of role entails maintaining cost and schedule baselines, month-end closing activities, project analysis and adjustments, investigating variances and ensuring accuracies within project data.
§ Assisting the Master Scheduler to maintain the integrity of project schedules, progressing activities, engaging Integrated Project Team members for variance analysis and reporting, as well as updating schedules for schedule remediation activity adjustments.
§ Work closely with Finance, Project Teams, and the Scheduler to oversee cost code and resource booking processes, ensuring accurate labour cost capture. Partner with Supply Chain to apply correct cost codes to materials procurement, and with Subcontract Specialists to ensure subcontract cost reporting meets project and contract obligations.
§ Working with the Industry Engagement Manager to set up and report on Australian Contract Expenditure for relevant projects
§ Delivery of month-end analysis and reporting into Project and the Central Finance Teams on job cost, schedule progress and inputting into Project Earned Value Management reporting processes.
§ Assistance, development and support to team ensuring key monthly, quarterly and annual deadlines are achieved including preparation of customer invoices, working with accounts payable on timely payments and ongoing streamlining of processes to enable project delivery
§ Ad hoc involvement and support in wider project activities
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
Essential.
§ Highly motivated and effective team member capable of demonstrating leadership qualities.
§ Prior experience in a similar project control or project analysis role is highly regarded.
§ Ability to prepare project reporting, including forecasts, along with other management reports
§ Excellent time management skills, shows initiative, with good communication skills, and ability to prioritise tasks
§ Able to work well under pressure in a collaborative team environment
§ Strong attention to detail and procedural mindset
Desirable.
§ Over 3 years' experience in project controls within Defence or maritime projects, or Degree qualified professional
§ Prior experience with schedule and / or budget management
§ Dashboard development and reporting for visual metric management
§ Expertise in technical aspects of reporting and analysis with advanced excel skills, identification of accounting issues and implementing process improvements
