About this role
The System Purchasing Branch is responsible for developing and operationalising the Purchasing Framework for NSW Health.
The Principal Policy Officer, Purchasing leads a team that is responsible for supporting the implementation of best practice policies, programs, projects, and activities for the Ministry of Health, public health organisations and related government agencies, and provide policy advice to support the achievement of NSW Health's objectives in relation to both health system purchasing and performance metrics. They additionally prepare high level reports, interpreting and summarising analyses and findings, while providing expert guidance and support to colleagues and stakeholders regarding system procurement and performance metrics.
Crown Clerk 11/12, salary from $149,749 - $173,174 plus Super and annual leave loading

What you'll be doing
- Leading and managing staff undertaking policy development and evaluation activities and projects for the Ministry of Health and related government agencies addressing current and emerging health system purchasing policy issues.
- Provide sound information and advice on current and emerging health system purchasing policy issues to Senior Executives and key staff within the Ministry of Health, public health organisations and related government agencies to ensure issues are satisfactorily resolved or addressed.
- Provide advice to support managers to consistently interpret health system purchasing policies and practices.
- Plan, manage and monitor projects assigned to the team to ensure project outcomes and/or expectations are achieved.
About you
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals with:
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of policies and legislation impacting on health system purchasing and performance.
- Demonstrated skills and substantial experience in undertaking all stages of the policy cycle and provision of policy advice in a complex and multi-disciplinary environment.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic and innovative project management and an excellent understanding of project methodologies, processes, and procedures.
- Ability to analyse and use data to inform policy development and decision making.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
- A growth mindset, and commitment to continuous learning, personal development, and process improvement
