Position Summary:
Kingdom Chinese Restaurant, located in the Adelaide Central neighbourhood and operating for over 15 years, offers a diverse selection of traditional Chinese dishes. We seek an experienced and culturally aware Restaurant Manager with a strong background in Chinese culinary operations to oversee daily operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Chinese cuisine and preferably bilingual communication skills (Mandarin/Cantonese and English), with proven experience managing multicultural teams in the Australian hospitality industry.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily restaurant operations to ensure smooth service and high-quality dining experiences, leveraging cross-functional management insights gained from multi-faceted hospitality roles.
Supervise and coordinate front-of-house and back-of-house staff, including rostering, recruitment, training, and performance management.
Maintain strict compliance with Australian food safety, hygiene, and WHS standards.
Monitor inventory, manage supplier relationships (especially for imported Asian goods), and ensure timely procurement to support kitchen demands.
Develop and implement customer service standards, handling feedback and complaints with professionalism refined through direct guest interaction experience.
Analyze financial performance, monitor budgets, and implement cost control strategies.
Plan and execute marketing activities in alignment with seasonal promotions and local events, striking a balance between Chinese culinary traditions and local market preferences.
Liaise with external partners such as delivery platforms (e.g., Uber Eats, Door Dash) and technology providers (POS systems).
Key Selection Criteria
Minimum 5 years of full-time experience in restaurant management, preferably within Chinese or Asian dining environments, with a track record of managing diverse operational workflows.
Strong understanding of Chinese cuisine and dining culture, with the ability to adapt menus for the Australian market.
Fluency in English and proficiency in Mandarin or Cantonese are highly regarded, given the nature of our clientele and kitchen operations.
Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate diverse teams in fast-paced environments.
Excellent customer service, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in using POS systems and basic financial/operational reporting tools.
Desirable Qualities
Experience in cross-cultural marketing and promotions
Knowledge of Chinese food import supply chains and sourcing channels
Experience working in a family-owned or culturally specific restaurant setting
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $78,000.00 – $81,000.00 per year
