Where this role sits
The General Manager, Delivery leads REA Group's enterprise delivery practice, setting and championing the vision for how work flows effectively across the organisation. The mission of the enterprise delivery practice is to establish world class ways of working in delivery, build capability & continuously improve our system of work through quantitative metrics and insights. It defines and manages enterprise delivery practices and tooling, ensuring consistent excellence while removing barriers and inefficiencies wherever possible.
Through a data driven approach, automation, and seeking continuous improvement, the General Manager, Delivery fosters an environment of lean and innovative ways of working. This role is a member of the Global Technology Leadership Team, which has the responsibility of leading technology strategy, operational excellence and community across REA Group.
Day to day of the job
While no two days are likely to be the same in this role, typical responsibilities will include:
- Setting the strategic direction, objectives and key results for the Delivery Practice at REA, aligning it with company strategy & goals.
- Partnering with key stakeholders across the business, such as Directors of Engineering, business unit owners, senior product and design stakeholders to align practice and deliver on the strategy.
- Building and developing external partnerships to bring world class thought leadership.
- Establishing key metrics that demonstrate delivery health to enhance speed, predictability, and value realisation.
- Ensuring that enterprise delivery effectiveness and speed to value is continually improved, as measured by key metrics.
- Developing a clear aligned delivery practice and tooling that supports effective delivery at scale and our continued growth.
- Continuous development of delivery capability through coaching, structured training and learning programs.
- Driving engineering community engagement; supported by removing blockers, clarity of practice and providing tools that enable.
- Building strong stakeholder confidence with delivery practice and outcomes.
- Identifying systemic friction points that hinder delivery flow and lead improvement initiatives to address them.
- Leading and developing a team of Delivery Principals, ensuring they are equipped to define practice, coach, train and drive flow.
- Building an effective enterprise delivery capability development program led by your team including coaching, training & learning programs, tooling and playbooks.
- Chairing the TPM Community of Practice, sharing best practices, fostering knowledge exchange, and driving continuous improvement.
Who we're looking for
- Extensive experience leading and developing delivery and engineering functions within tech-led organisations.
- Experience leading organisational change and delivering impact.
- You'll bring a continuous improvement mindset and will enjoy tackling challenges with curiosity and always looking for opportunities to innovate.
- Someone who fosters a culture of accountability, collaboration and innovation in delivery.
- Deep understanding of Agile methodologies.
- Great stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience collaborating with, influencing and presenting to senior leaders.
- An analytical approach, you're someone who applies metrics and data to drive insights and continuously improve.
- You enjoy fostering growth and supporting the development of others; through coaching, mentoring and training.
