About the Role

We're seeking a
Payroll Specialist
to join our People, Culture & Workplace team based on our CBD head office. Reporting into the Head of Remuneration and Benefits, you'll be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll across multiple pay cycles using
Dayforce
. You'll ensure compliance with awards and legislation, manage employee records, and provide essential support across the full payroll and employee lifecycle.

This is a hands-on role within a collaborative team of three, where your attention to detail and payroll expertise will make a real impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process fortnightly, monthly, quarterly, and out-of-cycle payrolls using Dayforce.
  • Ensure timesheets are compliant with pay policies and award interpretations.
  • Maintain employee payroll records, including hires, terminations, and transfers.
  • Calculate and process termination and redundancy payments.
  • Manage mandatory payments: payroll tax, superannuation, child support, salary packaging, and Portable LSL.
  • Prepare end-of-month and ad-hoc payroll reports.
  • Monitor and manage the payroll inbox, resolving employee queries promptly.
  • Partner with Finance to reconcile leave entitlements.
  • Support configuration of payroll rules and awards in Dayforce.
  • Assist with annual salary reviews, award increases, and bonus/commission processing.

About You

  • 3–5 years of payroll experience, ideally across multiple cloud-based payroll systems.
  • Strong knowledge of SCHADS, Clerks, Nurses, Miscellaneous and Professional Services awards.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with ATO, State Revenue Offices, Super legislation, Long Service Leave Boards, Centrelink, PRODA, and related compliance.
  • A high level of numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications in Payroll, HR, Business, or Administration
are preferred but not essential.
