A dynamic, national retail business is creating an inhouse legal function dedicated to franchising, and they're looking for an experienced lawyer to establish and lead it.

This is a rare opportunity to bring your franchise law expertise to a much-loved brand and make your mark building something new to support high-volume, high-impact transactions.

In this role, you'll:

  • Work with the Head of Legal to establish and lead a new dedicated function focused on franchising.
  • Lead end-to-end franchising transactions, including drafting agreements, negotiating terms, and managing renewals and terminations.
  • Provide clear, practical legal advice on a wide range of commercial and operational matters.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, guiding and influencing decision-making.
  • Contribute to general legal advisory work and play a key role in shaping a new legal function, with opportunities to grow as the business expands.

What we're looking for:

  • 5+ years PQE with proven expertise in franchising law and excellent knowledge of the Franchising Code of Conduct and relevant case law.
  • Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Commercially-minded, pragmatic, and comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels
  • A people focused team player looking to be part of a much-loved business making a positive impact in the community.
