About the role

A rare opportunity has arisen for a
Legal Counsel
to join our client's Legal Services – Corporate team on a 12-month fixed-term contract (parental leave). Ideal for a
2-4 year PAE Commercial Lawyer
, this role offers valuable hands-on experience across a wide range of corporate and commercial matters, with the support of a dedicated, collaborative and experienced legal team.

Duties

In this role you will:

  • Draft legal documents and prepare correspondence on a range of commercial, compliance and regulatory matters
  • Provide legal advice to school and office staff
  • Conduct legal research and stay informed on relevant legislation
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and external clients
  • Support senior lawyers on legal matters and strategic projects

Skills & experience

You are an admitted lawyer with 2-4 years PAE Commercial law experience, who is eager to grow in a supportive, purpose-driven legal team. You bring:

  • Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders
  • A high level of attention to detail and sound problem-solving ability
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • A collaborative and professional approach, with the ability to work under supervision
  • A commitment to child safety and the values of Integrity, Respect, and Excellence

About our client

Our client owns and operates approximately 300 schools in and around Melbourne. Their Corporate Legal team is based in the Melbourne head office situated in the inner CBD and close to public transport.
