We provide a wide variety of construction materials and services to the both the domestic and international building and construction industries and are Innovative developers of new generation building materials and technologies to reduce the impact of heavy construction materials on the environment. The increasingly diverse nature of the business, domestic growth and planned international expansion of the business has created a unique opportunity for a Legal Counsel to join our Legal team.

Role Description

Reporting to the General Counsel and Company Secretary, the role can be based either in Toowoomba or Rocklea. It is predominantly a commercial/corporate role however any experience in property or construction law would be advantageous given the nature of our industry and large property footprint.

The Legal Counsel would be responsible for providing timely, commercially focused and high-quality legal advice that adds value to each of the business units and the overall Wagners Group, including:

  • Providing clear, independent legal advice across a wide range of corporate, commercial and construction matters.
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of contracts, agreements, and project documentation.
  • Assisting with debt recovery and litigation management, working with insurers and external advisers where required.
  • Providing legal support on property, leasing, and development transactions.
  • Assisting with governance initiatives, including ESG, privacy and modern slavery.
  • Delivering training to staff on legal, risk, and compliance matters.

About You

You are a collaborative legal professional with a strong commercial mindset and the ability to balance risk with practical business outcomes. You will ideally have:

  • 3-6 years post-admission experience in a law firm or in-house role
  • Sound knowledge of Corporations' law, Consumer law, and general commercial law
  • Strong skills in contract drafting and negotiation
  • Excellent communication
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

A tertiary qualification in Law and a current legal practising certificate is compulsory.
