Victoria University Library is undergoing a period of exciting transformation including renewal of its services and spaces. The VU Library Plan 2024—2026: One VU, One Library Future Focused and Fit for Purpose is based on the strategic drivers outlined in the University strategic plan and outlines the Library's role in achieving these aims.

About the Role:

The Manager, Library Client Experience is a newly created leadership role designed to shape the way our students, staff and community engage with Victoria University's library services and spaces. This role will lead our front-of-house teams and take stewardship of our campus libraries, including the exciting new integrated Library and Teaching Space opening at Footscray Park in early 2026. As a member of the Library Leadership Team, the Manager will work collaboratively across the Library and with colleagues across VU to deliver high-quality enquiry services, create vibrant and welcoming learning environments, and ensure our libraries are at the heart of the student and staff experience. The role will also oversee our Library Student Assistants program and play a key part in initiatives and events that showcase the Library as a central hub for connection, learning, and innovation within the VU community.

This is a full time position at a HEP8 Classification, $110,100 - $123, % superannuation, working 36.75 hours per week on a continuing basis

An example of your responsibilities or duties you may perform will include:

  • Lead and manage client-facing library services across all campuses, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality front-of-house support
  • Oversee the strategic planning and operational management of library spaces, including events, exhibitions, and service points.
  • Design and manage the Library's Student Assistants program, including recruitment, training, and performance oversight
  • Develop and implement service models, procedures, and engagement strategies that reflect sector best practice and support VU's strategic goals.
  • Contribute to the Library's leadership team to foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

About You:

  • Have experience leading client focused services in an academic environment including managing diverse teams of staff and multimode client enquiry services (in person, online)
  • Are a strategic and creative thinker with a client centered approach to services and space provision
  • Possess highly developed communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Understand the academic Library sector, VU's Block model and unique dual sector context
  • Are excited to contribute to the leadership of a Library that aims to facilitate inclusion and a sense of belonging for its community
