We are looking for a dedicated Finance Manager to lead our financial operations, reporting, compliance, and strategic planning. This is a senior leadership role that offers the opportunity to shape the financial direction of a dynamic and evolving healthcare business.

About Us
Western Private Hospital, located in Footscray, is a 62-bed private acute hospital and is the longest serving private hospital in Melbourne's west providing much needed services to the people in the expanding North West and Western regions of Melbourne and surrounding areas.
We are fully equipped for a comprehensive range of surgical procedures including general, bariatric, oral max, colorectal, endoscopy, gastroenterology, ophthalmology, orthopaedic, gynaecology, IVF, plastics, vascular and urology, as well as diagnostic and interventional cardiology and high dependency services.
WPH's facilities include four Operating Theatres, CSSD, Day Procedure Unit, Day Oncology Unit, Overnight Ward for CCU, HDU & Surgical patients, Cardiac Catheter Laboratory, Specialist Consulting Suites, PET Centre/Nuclear Medicine and supported by pathology, pharmacy, radiology and radiation therapy services.
About the Role
As the Finance Manager you will oversee Western Private Hospital's finance function managing a small team to ensure timely and accurate financial information is produced. You will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer/Director of Nursing and Business Services Manager providing them with extensive support with budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management reporting; and providing reporting to the Board of Management.
The Finance Manager will lead the finance function, including:
- Day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and tax obligations.
- Financial Management reporting including the preparation of management reports including KPIs and financial reports which are timely, accurate and understandable by all stakeholders and assist in operational informed decisions
- Develop annual budgets, monthly reviews and analysis with regular forecasting.
- Driving financial performance through forecasting, cost control, and analysis of business KPIs through the use of modelling.
- Supporting strategic decision-making with clear financial insights and business cases.
- Leading and mentoring a small finance team comprising of AP, AR, Billings & Payroll and working closely with other departments.
- Managing relationships with external accountants, auditors, banks, and regulatory authorities.
- Business Development – advising the Executive Team on pricing, expansion, due diligence and funding proposals.
What you will bring
and what the selection criteria are-
- Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting or a similar discipline with CA/CPA accreditation
- Membership with a recognised Australian accounting body
- Minimum 5+ years' experience in financial management, highly preferred in healthcare
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance within an Australian business context
- Proficiency and experience using Tier 2 / medium sized financial software systems – experience using MS Business Central 365 or similar, experience with financial modelling tools (ie Power Bi)
- Ability to lead, influence and collaborate across departments and with senior leadership
- Excellent communication, analytical, and organisational skills
- A proactive, solutions-oriented approach with high attention to detail
- Demonstrated experience in cost/revenue/profitability analysis
- Ability to complete work and deliver according to project schedules and deadlines
- Ability to initiate the development of enhancements to financial systems and processes
- Advanced computer skills with MS Office programs, including excellent Excel skills (VLOOKUP, SUMIF, Pivots)
