About the role
The Senior Health Economics and Market Access Manager, also known as a Health Economics Outcomes Researcher (HEOR) will play a critical role in designing and driving health economics and market access strategies to support the adoption, reimbursement, and sustained value of our clients product/s.
The role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to deliver evidence-based strategies and materials that align with regulatory and payer requirements, ultimately supporting patient access to products.
Key responsibilities
1. Assist and contribute to client projects related to health economics and market access topics.
- Reimbursement submissions to the PBAC (primarily) and other health technology assessment (HTA) agencies
- Research and data analysis
- Conduct interviews with external experts and stakeholders
- Model development for economic and market evaluations (including epidemiology, market size, cost-effectiveness analysis, cost minimisation analysis and cost-utility analysis)
- Advice on commercialisation strategy, focusing on market access and reimbursement matters – in Australia, the APAC region and globally
- Evidence generation for market access and reimbursement
- Health and HTA policy analysis and insights, including development of white papers
- Project management
- Delivery of high-quality client reports and presentations
2. Collaborate with a team to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with company policies, procedures, and client expectations.
- Project Leadership: Lead and manage client projects in health economics and market access, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to budget, and compliance with client expectations.
- Health Economics: Design and develop economic models, including cost-effectiveness, budget impact, and health outcomes analyses
- Market Access Strategy: Develop comprehensive strategies for securing optimal reimbursement and positioning across target geographies.
- People & Culture: Manage and mentor a team of direct reports, overseeing recruitment, development, and performance management.
- Quality Excellence: Uphold the highest standards in delivering quality work while continuously seeking improvement opportunities.
- Client Engagement: Engage with external stakeholders, including payers, healthcare systems, and key opinion leaders, to drive market access and reimbursement outcomes.
Major Challenges:
This role functions in a dynamic, highly regulated environment, requiring expertise in navigating complex healthcare systems and anticipating the evolving needs of regulatory bodies. Successful candidates will excel at addressing evidence gaps, aligning economic models with clinical data, and managing relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, all while meeting strict submission and project deadlines.
To be successful in the role we are looking for candidates with:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in health economics, Masters or PhD preferred.
- Previous experience with health technology assessment submissions to the PBAC.
- Demonstrated expertise in using macro and micro economic tools to conduct economic evaluations, modelling and analysis.
- Demonstrated high level analytical skills to undertake complex analyses using multiple data sources, as well as an understanding of and experience in qualitative and quantitative evaluation.
- Proven ability to undertake projects utilising well-developed project planning and time management skills, including the ability to address and prioritise competing demands.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, interpersonal and negotiation skills to effectively communicate with senior management and external stakeholders, to achieve project outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with senior management and key external partners, to represent and present on behalf Biointelect.
- Commercially aware and strategic thinker who is customer focused, reliable and results-driven, experience working as a consultant preferred.
