Commercial Accountant – Melbourne CBD

We're looking for a
Commercial Accountant
to join our Finance team, reporting directly to the Head of Finance. This role is broad and hands-on, covering everything from general ledger maintenance and commercial analysis through to supporting wider business projects.

Based in our Melbourne CBD head office, we also offer flexibility to work from home one day per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate balance sheet reconciliations and month-end reporting
  • Assist with the preparation of management reporting packs, including analysis and commentary
  • Support compliance tasks including tax, FBT, BAS, and statutory reporting
  • Partner with external auditors and assist with audit processes
  • Deliver sales and margin analysis for weekly trade meetings
  • Work closely with the merchandise team on inventory and procurement analysis
  • Contribute to annual budgets, forecasts, and reforecasts
  • Maintain accuracy across reporting platforms
  • Collaborate across the business, supporting a high-performance team culture and mentoring junior colleagues
  • Drive process improvement and efficiency across finance functions
  • Support wider reporting requirements and ad hoc project work

What We're Looking For

  • Degree qualification in Accounting or Commerce
  • 2–4 years' experience in a similar role (profession or commerce)
  • Solid understanding of accounting standards (AASB/IFRS)
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Experience with SAP or similar accounting software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
  • Proactive mindset with a drive to improve processes and deliver solutions

Salary range
- $80k - $85k plus super based on experience
