About the role

Are you ready to lead with impact? Reporting directly to the General Manager of Finance, this is a rare opportunity to take the reins of the Financial Control function.

As a key member of the senior leadership team, you'll inspire and empower a large, talented team across Financial Accounting, Tax, Banking, Accounts Payable & Receivable, and Internal Audit. This is a strategic role where you will drive accuracy, efficiency, and innovation in our financial practices, ensuring we not only meet compliance standards but set new benchmarks in financial best practices.

As a leader of leaders this role goes beyond managing teams, it's about influencing your leaders, fostering strategic alignment, and building a culture of empowerment and accountability. As our Financial Controller, you will:


• Leads and inspires the Financial Accounting team to deliver accurate, timely, and technically sound management and statutory financial reports, ensuring full compliance and confidence in every figure.

• Drives excellence in tax reporting, overseeing the preparation, validation, and reconciliation of all taxation obligations with precision and compliance at the core.

• Oversees end-to-end Banking, Accounts Payable and Receivable operations, ensuring efficient, accurate supplier payments and proactive, timely collection from customers.

• Champions the design and execution of our Officeworks audit program, embedding robust controls and continuous improvement across all financial practices.

About you

You're an experienced CA/CPA-qualified leader who combines sharp technical expertise with a genuine passion for people and strategic leadership. You thrive on driving efficiencies and continuous improvement, always bringing a results-driven, solutions-focused mindset to the table. You're a mentor and coach at heart, dedicated to nurturing and growing your team's potential while inspiring them to achieve their best. In addition, you will have:

  • Strong and demonstrated financial accounting experience (minimum 12 years)
  • 5 years senior leadership experience working in a large complex organisation (retail is highly desirable)
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate effectively with senior leaders and stakeholders from across the business
  • Excellent knowledge of technical accounting standards and processes
  • Good commercial skills with ability to Business Partner, enhance understanding and drive improvement
  • Experience using SAP is essential with BW, OneStream and/or Blackline experience is highly desirable
  • An ability to present detailed information in a simple and concise manner working with stakeholders at all levels
