Gippsland Centre Against Sexual Assault (GCASA) provides comprehensive sexual assault support and treatment services across Gippsland. Culturally inclusive, GCASA supports diverse communities and operates within a framework protecting rights and dignity. Services include counselling, information, resources, group work, and professional training.

Position Objective:

The Receptionist/ Administrator - Bairnsdale, will work closely with the Administration Coordinator to provide reception and administrative duties to all parties in Bairnsdale and Sale offices, and also support to the team located in MDC Morwell office, Wonthaggi & Warragul Office.

The successful applicant will be appointed for a six-month probationary period during which time regular supervision is provided. At the conclusion of this period a performance review will be held with the Administration Coordinator, after this, a decision will be made to either offer ongoing employment or to cease employment with the Agency.

Position responsibilities:

  • Assist with answering telephone for the services for the MDC based in Morwell and in Warragul.
  • Performing reception duties, meeting, and greeting our clients
  • Undertake clerical duties as requested include using data base, excel, word and PowerPoint as requested with assigned responsibility to complete tasks as requested.
  • Assist with maintaining the hygienic, warm and welcoming environment within our reception and counselling rooms, ensuring that all materials are current, and align to GCASA's therapeutic and client wellbeing approach and meet quality standards.
  • Offering clerical and reception support to our Counsellor Advocate team and those who regularly attend the offices.
  • Working in a diverse team and supporting rostering of tasks i.e general administrative tasks required to assist with smooth practice operations.
  • This may include diary appointments and data collection.
  • Other duties as directed.

  2. Ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively under pressure without direct supervision in a multifaceted team environment, while regularly communicating and contributing to the wider administrative support team.
  3. Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to provide reception and telephone services to our clients.
  4. Ability to work in a sensitive and confidential environment including the ability to deal with unsettling information and maintaining confidentiality.
  5. Must have a demonstrated ability to use of Microsoft suite word, excel, outlook and PowerPoint.

GCASA will ensure that staff are appropriately credentialed and have a defined scope of practice. Staff must provide the following original documentation, or a certified copy, prior to appointment. All staff are required to maintain their registration and credentialing requirements for the period of their employment.

The successful applicant will:

  • Be willing if required to travel across the region and to Melbourne as negotiated for training and development

  • Hold a current Victorian driver's licence

  • Hold a current Working with Children's check

  • Provide a current National Crim Check

  • Undertake a DFFH Statutory Declaration relating any CP intervention, IVO and court pending.

  • Will work Wednesdays to participate in agency meetings
