Overview of our role
We're looking for a collaborative and forward-thinking Procurement & Category Specialist to join our team and make a real impact on the way we deliver for our communities.
In this role, you'll work closely with people right across our business, offering trusted procurement advice and guidance. You'll be our go-to expert for materials procurement, helping to keep our gas assets and projects running smoothly and successfully.
You'll shape and deliver both short- and long-term procurement strategies, bringing people together – internally and externally – to create positive outcomes, strengthen our supply chain, and show how procurement plays a key role in our shared success.
From sourcing and tendering to supply chain management and contract oversight, you'll own the full procurement journey. This includes building strong relationships with suppliers, engaging with the market, managing risks, and planning ahead to ensure our strategies are aligned with our organisational goals and the communities we serve.
Your leadership will be all about proactive planning, spotting opportunities, and building trusted partnerships – ensuring our procurement activities support our projects, keep our assets performing at their best, and create long-term value for everyone involved.
A little about you
- Experience in procurement, working closely with others to deliver meaningful value and positive outcomes.
- Strong commercial understanding, with the ability to balance big-picture thinking and careful attention to detail.
- Skilled at engaging stakeholders, coordinating tenders, and supporting smooth contract delivery.
- Naturally builds trust and fosters positive relationships across diverse teams and cultures.
- Comfortable owning multiple procurement categories, encouraging innovation, and guiding change in a supportive way.
- Plans ahead, considers potential risks, and nurtures team success through inclusive leadership.
Qualifications / certifications & Skills
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Procurement, Commercial or Supply Chain management (desirable).
- Membership of a procurement body (desirable).
- Technical or industry-related experience in the energy sector.
- Strong customer service, negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution skills.
- Detailed knowledge of contract management methodologies and legislative requirements.
- An understanding of market dynamics, commercial factors and the macro-economic context.
- Strong customer service, stakeholder engagement and support skills.
