About You

The ideal candidate will lead initiatives to generate and engage with key business partners to build and grow current and new business opportunities for the company. You're a strategic thinker and natural connector with a passion for driving growth. As our new
Business Development Manager – Rail
, you'll be the face of our rail portfolio, leading initiatives that unlock new opportunities and strengthen existing partnerships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Account Management – build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with key accounts within the rail sector.
  • Identify potential business opportunities and follow up on new leads within the rail sector.
  • Travel to key accounts, both local and interstate (50 % travel)
  • Demonstrate strong industry product knowledge with the ability to learn and conduct demos, presentations and offer tailored solutions to a wide range of customers.
  • Demonstrated experience in using multiple CRMs – Syspro, Microsoft platforms
  • Prepare concise and accurate reports, proposals, and other required documentation for executive-level presentations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve sales objectives and support customer solutions
  • Provide assistance and share best practices with colleagues to foster a supportive team environment.
  • Participate in joint strategy sessions and regular meetings to align on goals and drive collective success.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Adept at cultivating and sustaining exceptional service relationships with established key clients, while continuously seeking opportunities to expand a professional network within the rail industry.
  • Strong industry experience and product knowledge within the rail sector
  • Strong communication skills (face to face, email and via phone)
  • Excellent time and organisational skills, with the ability to handle pressure and strict deadlines.
  • Proficient in utilising multiple CRMs and Microsoft software packages, with a proven ability to quickly learn and adapt to new platforms.

Preferred skills and qualifications

  • Driver's license and reliable transport
  • Strong demonstrable sales and BDM experience
  • A strong industry network and knowledge within the rail sector
  • A great team player with the ability to work autonomously
  • Be able to pass a national police check
