Primary objective

The Data Warehouse Officer is a core member of the team that designs, develops and administers Data Services data warehouse solutions;

a key decision tool used by management at all levels and is the principal platform of strategic reporting for the Government Agency that

the solution supports.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Liaise with stakeholders to discover, collate and document technical requirements.

2. Assist in the development of business and reporting requirements, assess and recommend technical toolsets and design options to

deliver business outcomes.

3. Identify linkages and relationships between the different data sources and data analysis to identify the facts and dimensions, define

key metrics and data elements and determine the business rule calculations.

4. Use Data Warehouse toolsets to build and deliver reporting outcomes.

5. Participate in Data Services reporting project initiatives.

6. Develop and maintain documentation and contribute to planning of training programs. May be required to conduct training

presentations.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Communication skills of a high order, able to obtain, translate and interpret a diverse range of stakeholder input in a complex and

technical environment.

1. Able to work closely with stakeholders and professional peers.
2. Able to clearly analyse, assess and articulate issues and recommend solutions.
3. Understanding of the structure of data in relational databases with knowledge of data warehousing concepts, software and

implementation.

5. Practical knowledge of the Data Warehouse suit of products, such as Microsoft SQL Server, Visual Studio and component toolsets.

6. Proven ability to manipulate datasets from diverse sources, and a proficiency in computer applications and programming languages.

7. Organisational skills and ability to deliver tasks in defined timeframes.

8. An ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.

9. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude, which emulates DCDD values of being professional, accountable, honest, respectful and

innovative

Desirable

1. Experience with one or more enterprise finance, clinical or human resource management systems.

2. Relevant tertiary / industry accredited qualification or professional membership.
