Role Overview

The Control Room Operator is responsible for monitoring fire alarm systems, responding to activations, and escalating incidents according to established procedures. The role ensures timely response to potential fire and safety risks, supporting the protection of people, property, and operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor fire alarm and related monitoring systems
  • Promptly respond to alarm activations and follow escalation procedures
  • Log and document all events and responses accurately in the reporting system
  • Contact emergency services and key stakeholders as required
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members during and after incidents
  • Conduct regular system checks to ensure monitoring equipment is functioning
  • Maintain compliance with fire safety regulations, SOPs, and company standards

Requirements

  • Availability to work rotating shifts (nights, weekends, and public holidays)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in incident recording
  • Ability to stay calm and make clear decisions under pressure
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Basic computer/system skills (training provided)
  • Reliability, punctuality, and strong teamwork

Desirable

  • Experience in a control room, fire alarm monitoring, or emergency response role
  • Experience with alarm monitoring software, such as MAS (training will be provided if no previous experience)
  • Access to reliable transport (own car preferred due to limited public transport)
