The Opportunity

The Regional Director will lead the South West's strategic integration of VicGrid's REZ strategy agenda. This role is responsible for driving the coordination of land use, infrastructure planning, and stakeholder collaboration to deliver Victoria's REZ Strategy in a way that maximises regional outcomes and benefits.

What you will deliver

• Lead the regional rollout of the REZ Strategy, working with system planning, land use, energy infrastructure, Traditional Owner and community priorities, and regional social and economic development to deliver cohesive, impactful outcomes.
• Provide timely, expert policy, technical, and place-based advice on the regional integration of VicGrid's REZ planning, land use, energy system development, and benefits approach to Ministers, executives, and delivery partners.
• Lead complex, multi-stakeholder planning, coordination, and engagement programs across REZ areas – including the Victorian Transmission Plan – ensuring strong governance, risk management, and alignment with regulatory, environmental, and community priorities.
• Support the development and lead the implementation of social value, benefit-sharing, and investment strategies that deliver lasting benefits to communities hosting renewable energy and transmission infrastructure.

What you will bring

• Senior leadership experience in infrastructure, energy, land use planning, or regional development, with a track record of delivering strategies in complex regulatory and stakeholder environments.
• Proven ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with regional communities, Traditional Owners, and industry, co-designing place-based solutions that balance competing land use and infrastructure priorities.
• Skilled in leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering complex, cross-sector programs, with strengths in governance, risk management, inter-agency collaboration, and Ministerial engagement
• An understanding of energy markets and transmission infrastructure planning, with strong knowledge of the technical, policy, and regulatory frameworks for Victoria's Renewable Energy Zones will be looked upon favourably.
