ABOUT THE ROLE

Join Wodonga TAFE in a pivotal leadership role that supports Defence personnel in achieving nationally recognised qualifications through skills assessment and educational planning.

As the Education Manager – Skills Assessor, you will lead the Skills Assessment process at HMAS Cerberus, managing a small team and overseeing the development and implementation of assessment processes. Your work will directly influence the recognition of prior learning, credit transfers, and the identification of training gaps, helping Defence members transition into civilian qualifications and careers.

This role blends strategic leadership, stakeholder engagement, and educational expertise. You'll collaborate with Defence, NTEN partners, and internal teams to ensure assessments are accurate, timely, and aligned with industry and institutional standards.

Selected Duties:

  • Lead and manage the Skills Assessment Cell, including staff and operational processes.

  • Develop and implement robust skills assessment frameworks and reporting systems.

  • Provide expert recommendations on educational pathways based on assessment outcomes.

  • Build strong relationships with Defence stakeholders, NTEN partners, and internal curriculum managers.

  • Ensure compliance with RTO standards and continuous improvement of assessment practices.

ABOUT YOU

Skills & Experience

  • A relevant vocational qualification and teaching qualification at AQF Level 6 or above.

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122) or equivalent.

  • Demonstrated experience in skills assessment, RPL, and curriculum development.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • The ability to work strategically and operationally in a dynamic environment.

  • Must be an Australian Citizen to be able to gain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance
