Topcoat Asphalt expanded into the Northern Territory in 2024 through the successful acquisition of NT Bitumen & Asphalt.

About the Role

Topcoat Asphalt is seeking an experienced and motivated Business Development Manager to join our team. This pivotal role will see you working with potential and our existing clients, driving sustainable growth across South Australia and the Northern Territory. You'll lead our estimating team, manage key client relationships, and play a crucial part in continuing our strong market position in asphalt contracting, spray seal contracting, and ex-bin asphalt supply.

What You'll Do

  • Identify and pursue new opportunities through market research, networking, and industry knowledge
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with existing and potential clients, contractors, and industry stakeholders
  • Lead the tendering, estimating and negotiation process for new contracts, ensuring alignment with company frameworks and systems
  • Develop and implement business development strategies to achieve sales targets and company KPIs
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless project delivery and customer satisfaction
  • Monitor performance metrics, prepare budgets, and provide strategic advice to senior management
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and environmental standards

What You'll Bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience
  • Current driver's licence and Construction Industry White Card
  • At least 5 years' proven experience in a similar role within the civil and road construction industry
  • Experience in asphalt or spray sealing industries is advantageous
  • Demonstrated commercial management experience, including contract negotiation and risk management for large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and people management skills
  • Results-driven, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to multi-task and manage deadlines
  • Sound business acumen and a collaborative approach to teamwork
