As Principal Data Scientist, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping how machine learning is applied across our business, delivering measurable value for our customers and supporting our mission to improve pet healthcare moments. This is a unique opportunity to lead technical innovation, mentor a small team, and drive business growth in a purpose-led organisation.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the creation of Pet Health Analytics and Digital Analytics programmes, generating unique insights to improve outcomes for pet owners across Australia and New Zealand
  • Drive growth and retention by applying machine learning to strengthen existing channels and unlock new business opportunities
  • Develop AI agents that augment and automate analytics capability, contributing to operational excellence
  • Collaborate with AI Solutions Engineers, AI Systems Engineers, and the Pricing team to embed ML in production and uplift modelling capability
  • Establish robust ML foundations by setting standards, frameworks, and practices for scalable predictive modelling and analytics
  • Mentor and guide a small team of ML practitioners, while delivering hands-on technical solutions
  • Champion PetSure's values and contribute to a positive, inclusive team culture

What You'll Bring

  • Proven experience developing and deploying machine learning solutions in real-world settings
  • Deep technical expertise in machine learning, predictive modelling, and advanced analytics
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with both technical teams and business stakeholders
  • Experience mentoring or leading small teams, balancing strategy with hands-on delivery
  • A collaborative, proactive, and flexible approach to problem-solving
