Senior Project Manager (Melbourne)
The
Senior Project Manager
plays a key role within the Construction team, leading the delivery of data center construction projects from conception through commissioning. This is a large-scale, complex and technical construction projects where you will oversee both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment across Sales, Operations, Development, and Engineering, while maintaining long-term operational sustainability, cost efficiency, and schedule adherence.
You will be responsible for
managing the end-to-end delivery
of construction and capital expenditure works for the Melbourne Campus Expansion. Core responsibilities include coordinating cross-functional teams, advising on design and construction frameworks, driving contractor performance, ensuring compliance with safety and local regulations, and implementing project controls to deliver projects
on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards
.
This is a
high-visibility role
that allows the Senior Project Manager to shape Vantage's project delivery standards and operational excellence, while working closely with internal teams and stakeholders across the APAC region.
Essential Job Functions
- Project Delivery:
Lead the delivery of
large-scale, complex data center construction projects
from conception through commissioning within the Construction team. Oversee all project activities including utility interfacing, budgets, schedules, procurement strategies, and ECI interface. - Project Controls and Administration:
Manage
consulting deliverables
and ensure alignment with project objectives and milestones. Supervise
in-house quantity surveyors (QS)
, administer contracts, including progress claims, certificates, and related documentation. Track
critical milestones, timelines, budgets, and project risks
to ensure timely and successful delivery. - Contractor Management:
Manage
contractors and vendors
, coordinating performance, compliance, and integration with project objectives. Oversee
logistics, deliveries, and procurement
to support project timelines. - Safety and Compliance:
Act as a
safety leader
, fostering a culture of safety, security, and environmental responsibility across in-house teams and contractors. Ensure
health, safety, and environmental compliance
in all aspects of project execution. - Cross-Functional Coordination:
Drive
coordination and integration of internal partners
and cross-functional teams, including New Site Development (NSD), Design & Engineering (D&E), Construction, Procurement, and Critical Operations, to deliver world-class data centers. Perform effectively in a
fast-paced, high-pressure environment
with exposure to global customers and complex technical challenges.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8-10 years
in a senior management or project management role, with substantial experience in
complex and technical construction projects
. - Candidate from data centre industry is preferred, or Project Manageemnt
with general contractor experience, ideally from
Tier 1 / Tier 2 contractor
, with proven experience managing
projects valued at $500M or more
. - Candidates with large-scale consultancy experience
(mechanical, electrical, civil) and
experience in complex infrastructure projects
such as hospitals, government, or large industrial facilities are encouraged to apply. - Ability to perform in a
fast-paced, high-pressure environment
with global customer exposure. - Experience in CSA (civil, structural, architectural) and/or MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) construction management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management tools like MS Project or
Primavera P6
. - Experience developing executive level presentations.
- PMP certification
or equivalent is preferred.
