Role Description:

The Senior Project Manager (PM) is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of all IT projects that align with strategic business objectives. This role plays a critical part in strengthening project governance, embedding structured delivery practices, and bringing clarity and consistency to the cross-functional execution of projects across the department. The Senior PM will prioritise initiatives to enable a more strategic and resource-conscious approach to project delivery. They embed structured governance across all projects, including workforce planning, interdependency management, and risk mitigation. In addition to leading complex projects, the role provides mentorship and coaching to Project Managers, supporting their professional development and enhancing the department's overall project management capability.

Job Description:

  • Bachelor's degree in project management, business, commerce, IT, or related discipline (preferred); or extensive industry-relevant experience.
  • Certification in PRINCE2 is mandatory
  • Equivalent project management methodology; PMP or Agile certifications are highly regarded.
  • Extensive experience leading complex, multi-stream IT projects across scope, time, budget, and quality constraints.
  • Advanced skills in project planning, resource management, and program-level scheduling.
  • Proven track record of delivering strategic initiatives and driving business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated expertise in vendor governance, procurement strategy, and contract negotiation.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity, compliance frameworks, and enterprise risk management.
  • Ability to lead autonomously and collaboratively across high-impact, cross-functional teams.
  • High-level proficiency in project tools and systems, including document control and reporting.
  • Advanced knowledge and practical application of ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) and other service management frameworks.
  • Exceptional leadership and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience influencing senior executives and managing diverse teams.
  • Skilled in translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences and producing executive-level documentation.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience mentoring project managers and contributing to PMO or governance frameworks.

  • IT Security:
    Protects data and systems by implementing security frameworks, controls, and incident response protocols.
  • Systems & Network:
    Manages and optimises infrastructure, ensuring high performance, scalability, and security for systems and networks across IT services.
