This Commis level Chef position is responsible for ensuring quality, hygienic and high-volume hot and cold food is prepared in accordance with menu specifications, recipes and food service requirements across the College. Bring commercial cookery experience and help cater for students, staff, visitors and a diverse range of functions and events.
Work mostly Monday to Friday day shifts, 38 hours per week, during school term times with limited work requirements during term breaks. Availability for occasional evening, weekend and term break work is required, primarily for functions.
YOU WILL
Prepare, cook, plate and package a range of cold and hot food items and meals ranging from sandwiches, wraps, salads and baked goods to canapes and plated meals for more formal functions
Deliver quality culinary service and contribute to building team capability
Contribute to effective stock control and inventory control
Maintain healthy and safe work practices

YOU WILL BRING
Knowledge of food handling, food hygiene and kitchen safety practices
Demonstrated attention to detail and capacity to consistently produce high volume foods
Qualification in commercial cookery
Working with Children blue card and Food Safety or Food Handling certificate
Possess a service-oriented approach, ability to adapt, work under pressure and follow direction
Physically fit to stand for extended periods, perform bulk food preparation, perform manual tasks (including bending, lifting, and pushing trolleys), and safely use kitchen knives and equipment
