Service Integrated Communities | Albion Park Rail , Coniston , Mount Warrigal , Shell Cove , Illawarra, Shoalhaven, Wollongong, Warrawong

Home Care Worker | Illawarra
The opportunity:
It takes a unique person to care the way you do. We see it, our managers see it, and our residents, customers, and their families see it. Within this community, you are valued for the impact you make and thanked for your selfless care. Day to day, you'll help older people live with dignity, whether that's helping them get around, go to the bathroom, take a shower, or enjoy a meal with a friendly face – in line with their personalised care plan, all while they remain in the comfort of their own homes. You will support their independence and empower them to live their lives on their own terms. You will also help them celebrate life with community-based fun and social activities, bringing them a sense of belonging in so doing. With our high standards in clinical and compassionate care, you will have the space to innovate and excel, doing work you are proud of. We currently have a high number of requests for female home carers to provide personal care for our female customers to ensure their dignity and privacy.

The benefits:

  • Hourly rate: $32.56- $34.29 Superannuation
  • A fantastic on-boarding program to set you up for success, ongoing support and mentoring from clinical educators
  • Opportunities to gain further qualifications and develop broader holistic care skills in physical, mental health and social, with ongoing advanced training
  • Subsidised access to your local gym and 200 more across the country with a Fitness Passport
  • 24/7 access to mental, physical, social, and financial support via the LifeWorks app
  • Triple winner 2024 – Excellence in Workplace Culture, Excellence in Large Business, and the ultimate honour – Business of the Year Join us and experience the Warrigal Way.

What it takes to do this work:

No Matter your role, it takes a real love of caring, a willingness to jump in and do the work, and a genuine desire to make a difference. As a Home Care Worker, you'll also need:

  • An empathy and commitment to the care of older people
  • Certificate III in Aged Care or Individual Support OR prior experience in a related role
  • Administer and Monitor Medications Certificate HLTHP007 (highly desirable)
  • Good interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised
  • Availability to attend our 3 day on-boarding program
  • Current First Aid certificate or enrolled to obtain
  • Current Drivers License, a reliable car with comprehensive car insurance

What our carers love about working here:

Unexpected opportunities to grow: You'll find ongoing training and support that allows you bigger responsibilities, more senior roles and potential pay increases. Our preference is to promote from within, so there are opportunities to specialise, become an RN, or move into a non-clinical management role. We offer carer roles across our home, residential and lifestyle services, giving you variety beyond the expected.

Better life balance: We respect your life outside of your job, and work with you to design schedules that help you plan your study, family, and personal commitments around better, steadier rosters.

One team, united in our purpose: We support older people to have great lives. We put older people first in everything we do. On an everyday level, we help them age with dignity, independence, happiness, and connectedness. On a big picture level, we're challenging ageist thinking in Australia. This is the Warrigal Way.

Who we are | A community who cares
Warrigal has firmly established itself in the aged care community for over 60 years. Despite the diverse range of retirement living and aged care services we've built up in that time, we still have the same appetite to grow and innovate. Meaning, you'll have the chance to move around, get promoted or explore different areas across our expanding business in Illawarra, Southern Highlands, Queanbeyan, and Canberra – if that's what you want.

You are the difference | Create a meaningful legacy
At Warrigal, you're not just doing care work. You're shaping a society that respects and celebrates ageing, connects families, and frees up their time to create treasured, lasting memories. You're creating a culture of kindness, compassion and understanding that can be passed down to future generations. Let this be your legacy.
