The Change and Release Manager is accountable for change management process execution and compliance. They are responsible for ensuring that all changes to the IT services and infrastructure are made in a controlled and approved manner and in line with SIAM processes.

They are to ensure that changes are consistent and repeatable in nature, that they are communicated to all stakeholders, and that the risks associated with each change are understood and mitigated.

Your Responsibilities

  • Identifying potential change requirements, including responding to Requests for Change
  • Validating change requirements
  • Assessing change requirements
  • Categorising changes
  • Seeking technical, emergency and deployment approvals, including:

  • Presenting changes to the CABs

  • Receiving, storing and validating change approvals

  • Conducting reviews of changes, including:

  • Identifying and conducting formal reviews

  • Conducting PCRs of each unauthorised and unsuccessful change

  • Requesting re-scheduling and re-scoping of change records

  • Closing change records
  • Attending process forums, including:

  • DEFCAB, as required

  • PCRF, as required
  • Community of Practice
  • One-on-Ones, as required

  • Supporting the process community by cascading information to other process participants and stakeholders within their Service Provider

  • Identifying process continual improvement opportunities
  • Receiving and responding to hierarchical escalations where required
  • Act as a Change Approver, approving or denying changes
  • Attending DEFCAB as required
  • Supporting and mentoring technical, operational and process orientated team members

Your Skills And Role Requirements

  • Required:

  • Ideally, 5 years+ experience in ITSM Change and Release Manager or a similar role

  • Minimum Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) AGSVA Security Clearance
  • ACT based or willing to relocate
  • The ability to manage customer expectations
  • The ability to mentor junior team members and to collaborate with customers and other service providers
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to fluently and effectively communicate orally and in writing
  • The ability to present complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • The ability to plan, schedule and monitor changes and associated work to meet time and quality targets
  • The ability develop, review and martin process relevant documentation
  • The ability report on changes, including developing and maintaining reports

  • Desirable:

  • Practical knowledge of Defence SIAM Change processes

  • Practical knowledge of Defence SIAM ITSM processes
  • Woking in Defence of Federal Government client setting
