About the Role

We're looking for a hands-on Production and Workshop Manager to lead our busy fabrication workshop. This role suits a leader who combines hands-on workshop experience with strong planning and organisational capability. You'll oversee daily operations, manage team performance, and ensure every project leaves the workshop meeting our quality, safety, and delivery standards.

You'll also work closely with our QA / Welding Supervisor to maintain quality assurance, ensure fabrication excellence, and implement programs and systems that drive ongoing improvement across workshop operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, support, and motivate a team of tradespeople and apprentices
  • Plan and coordinate daily production schedules and resources
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, safely, and to specification
  • Work with the QA / Welding Supervisor to maintain quality and compliance
  • Review fabrication drawings, resolve technical issues, and support production readiness
  • Implement and improve workshop programs, systems, and processes to boost efficiency and consistency
  • Oversee stock control, purchasing, and supplier relationships
  • Manage material flow, deliveries, and workshop maintenance
  • Foster teamwork and strong communication between workshop, design, and site teams
  • Conduct toolbox talks and maintain WHS standards and documentation
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the business

About You

  • Trade background (Boilermaker, Fitter, or similar)
  • Qualified trade background in Boilermaker, Fitter & Turner, or Fabricator
  • Previous experience in a workshop or production leadership role
  • Minimum 5-8 years of workshop or production leadership experience
  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes and welding quality control
  • Experience implementing workshop systems or improvement programs
  • Results-driven, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communicator with a positive, hands-on attitude
  • Organised and reliable, with great attention to detail
  • Committed to safety, teamwork, and doing quality work
  • Forklift licence and driver's licence highly regarded
  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency required
