Role Highlights:
Take ownership of payroll processing across a dynamic apprenticeship program, gain exposure to a supportive and high-performing finance team, and accelerate your career in a collaborative environment.
Role Overview
Reporting into the Finance Team Leader, this is an excellent opportunity for a Payroll Officer to take ownership of processing payrolls, entitlements, and related obligations for a diverse group of staff. You will be responsible for accurate and timely payroll processing, superannuation, taxation, claims, and Portable Long Service Leave reporting. On a weekly basis, you will liaise with host employers, apprentices, and internal finance teams to ensure smooth payroll operations.
This role provides the opportunity to contribute to continuous process improvements, system reviews, and payroll inductions, ensuring data integrity and compliance. You will also have exposure to onboarding, credit application processes, and end-of-financial-year payroll updates, positioning you for growth within the finance function.
Responsibilities
- Process GT payrolls accurately and on time, including award and agreement interpretation.
- Manage termination payments and ensure compliance with legislation.
- Handle RTWSA lodgements, Average Weekly Earnings calculations, and Income Maintenance Reimbursements.
- Monitor superannuation, taxation, and RTWSA compliance.
- Maintain Portable Long Service Leave reporting and employee commencement records.
- Support payroll system maintenance and process updates.
- Conduct payroll inductions for new apprentices.
- Assist with onboarding and credit application processes.
- Prepare monthly reports, including leave balances and accruals.
- Process super and child support payments, end-of-year updates, and end-of-financial-year tasks.
Candidate Profile
You are highly organised, accurate, and able to work unsupervised while managing competing priorities. Experience with payroll processing, basic award interpretation, and reporting obligations is essential. You have strong communication skills, a professional manner, and a friendly, collaborative approach. A willingness to learn, respect for confidentiality, and a focus on cultural fit are key.
Culture & Benefits
- Join a supportive and collaborative team where culture and behaviours matter.
- Enjoy a stable schedule with early start/early finish options and flexibility for occasional WFH.
- Grow your payroll expertise in a hands-on role with exposure to apprenticeships, awards, and compliance obligations.
- Competitive salary and superannuation package with potential for professional development.
