JOHNEX explosives is a 100% Australian owned manufacturer and distributor of innovative explosives. Our Belmont Head Office is currently seeking a seasoned explosives professional with a passion for technical support, innovation, and hands-on fieldwork.

Reporting to the Senior Technical Specialist, this role provides technical and product support for Bulk Emulsion explosives used in surface mining. You'll be the go-to expert for customer communication, training, mentoring, and on-site problem solving. This is a field-based role with travel to mine sites nationwide, offering a flexible 8/6 roster averaging 48 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver product and equipment support to customers across various mine sites
  • Attend safety and technical meetings, conduct training and mentoring sessions
  • Support Surface Field Operations and contribute to digitisation software development
  • Assist in design, commissioning, and maintenance of explosives equipment and bulk facilities
  • Conduct quality control checks including VOD analysis, borehole tracking, and vibration testing
  • Participate in audits, risk assessments, and HAZOP projects
  • Provide technical support for tank cleaning and equipment maintenance
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to drive continuous improvement
  • Post blast analysis

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • 5+ years' experience in a similar role
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with surface mining equipment and products
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of autonomous travel planning
  • Proven track record in the mining industry
  • Experience with surface MPU operation

Desirable:

  • Cert IV in Training & Assessment, Forklift & Working at Heights tickets
  • Experience in drill and blast operations

Qualifications

  • Heavy Rigid driver's licence
  • Shotfirers licence
  • Dangerous Goods driver's licence and security card
  • Ability to pass pre-employment medical, drug & alcohol screening, and police clearance

Roster & Travel
