About the organisation
JFA Purple Orange is an Adelaide-based social-profit organisation with a mission to create a more inclusive world where people with disability have access to the same opportunities as everyone else.
We host peer networks and run other events for people with disability and their families to connect with information and each other. We conduct research, run consultations and contribute to policy development. We also deliver projects that influence practice. We work closely with people with disability, in line with the principles of co-design.
About the role
Do you want to make a real contribution to supporting lasting change to the independence, power, choice and control of people with disability?
Have you had success in facilitating peer networks and/or workshops for disadvantaged people? Do you have experience working with young adults with disability, or adults with intellectual disabilities?
We are looking for someone with strong values alignment to work with our Project Leader across two projects:
- Enabled Youth Disability Network (EYDN) is an incorporated organisation run by and for young people with disability between 16-35 years. EYDN is dedicated to amplifying the voices and aspirations of young persons with disability in South Australia. EYDN's work is overseen by a board of young people with disability aged between 18-30 years. and
 - Our Voice SA (OVSA) is an incorporated peer-led self-advocacy organisation for adults with intellectual disability. Their mission is to increase the skills and knowledge of people with intellectual disability in the areas of self-advocacy, human rights and decision-making. OVSA's work is overseen by a board of self-advocates with intellectual disability and interested community members who have a long history working in the sector.
 
This project includes running a series of peer networks and workshops for young people with disability (YPWD) and people with intellectual disability (PWID) that will increase their knowledge and confidence to access and navigate mainstream and disability-specific services in their community.
Reporting to the Project Lead: EYDN and OVSA, some of the work this role will be responsible for includes:
- Contributing to project teams to facilitate positive outcomes for the projects.
 - Facilitating peer networks for young people with disability and adults with intellectual disability.
 - Facilitating workshops for young people with disability and adults with intellectual disability
 - Supporting the co-design and creation of relevant resources for projects.
 - Connection and engagement with the disability community to inform deliverables.
 - Meeting and contributing to reports on contracted project deliverables as relevant.
 - Supporting the development of newsletter content and promotional materials.
 
Benefits and perks
This role is offered at 0.5 FTE fixed term for 12 months. We are a flexible and inclusive employer and will work with the successful candidate to agree a pattern of work that suits both parties.
The salary will align with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award, Social and Community Services Employee Level 3, but please note that we pay above award rates. Full salary packaging options are available.
Flexible working arrangements are negotiable, including working from home.

Specific criteria for this role include:
- Experience in project work, including facilitating meetings, writing communications or reports, or other relevant project administration tasks.
 - A valid NDIS Worker Screening and Working with Children Check or ability to obtain one (with support from the organisation).
 - Demonstrated commitment to advancing social justice in a broad sense.
 - Ability to work as part of a team and under limited direction.
 - Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite including Teams.
 
The following will be highly regarded:
- Lived experience of disability and / or proximity to disability (family member or similar) that supports a demonstratable understanding of the impacts of the experience of disability – with particular focus on employment.
 - Experience in best practice co-design concepts and processes.
