Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Construction Management (required)

  • Minimum of 3 years' industry experience in construction, remedial engineering, or building diagnostics

  • Strong understanding of building pathology including concrete spalling, waterproofing failures, and structural inadequacies

  • Experience conducting condition assessments and preparing defect reports, scopes of work, and specifications

  • Familiarity with relevant codes and legislation including:

    • Design & Building Practitioners Act 2020 (DBPA)

    • Home Building Act 1989

    • National Construction Code (NCC/BCA)

    • Australian Standards (AS)

  • Proven ability to develop technical documentation for tendering and construction

  • Skilled in managing and reviewing tender submissions

  • Proficiency with design and drafting tools such as AutoCAD (or equivalent design software)

  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed site assessments and prepare condition reports on existing buildings and structures

  • Carry out diagnostic investigations, including invasive testing, to determine causes of structural or waterproofing failures

  • Document building defects in compliance with NCC/BCA, AS, and other applicable standards and regulations

  • Develop technical building reports, including defect analysis, rectification recommendations, scopes of work (SOWs), and specifications (SPECs)

  • Produce conceptual and remedial designs for new and existing structures

  • Manage the tendering process, including issuing documentation and evaluating contractor responses

  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and contractors to ensure project expectations are met from design through to delivery

  • Contribute to project management activities and assist with quality control on-site

  • Maintain strong professional relationships and proactively identify new business opportunities
