About the role

Chislett Farms is seeking a talented Irrigation Manager to join our dynamic team on our farm located in Narrung, VIC. As our Irrigation Manager, you will play a critical role in overseeing and optimising the irrigation systems that are crucial to the productivity and sustainability of our farming operations. This full-time position offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact on the success of our family-owned business.

What you'll be doing

  • Developing and implementing comprehensive irrigation strategies to maximise water usage efficiency and crop yields
  • Analysing soil moisture and weather data to make informed decisions about irrigation scheduling and water application rates
  • Collaborating with the farm management team
  • Identifying and troubleshooting any issues with the irrigation system, and implementing corrective actions in a timely manner
  • Providing training and guidance to farm staff on the proper operation and maintenance of irrigation equipment

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar irrigation management role, ideally within the agricultural or horticultural industry
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve issues
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to liaise with farm management and staff
  • Keen attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining detailed records and documentation
  • A valid driver's licence and the ability to work flexibly, including occasional weekend and after-hours calls
  • Australian work authorisation is required for this position
  • Certificate or Diploma in irrigation management or related field is preferred
