Your day as an Associate Economist

Your typical day-to-day work will be varied and impactful.

You'll conduct research and analysis to support the development of high-quality economic advice that informs government decision-making. You'll monitor the progress of your assignments, helping ensure key milestones and deliverables are met on time and to a high standard.

A key part of your role will involve the preparation of drafting clear and concise briefs, ministerial correspondence, and reports and submissions that include sound, evidence-based recommendations. You'll also contribute to a range of project support activities that align with Treasury's strategic objectives. You may also be asked to take on assignments across different teams or agencies, giving you the opportunity to broaden your experience and build strong networks across the public sector.

Achieve success as an Associate Economist

In this integral role there are a few things we would like for you to have to best support yourself and add value to the people of NSW.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

·       Relevant tertiary qualification in economics, econometrics or statistics, public policy, law or related fields and/or professional experience in providing policy advice, research and evaluation, and/or economic or other analysis is highly favourable.

·       Ability to undertake basic research and analysis of data, models and/or consider perspectives across diverse policy issues to support economic and/or policy advice, under supervision.
