The Opportunity
We're seeking a motivated and detail-oriented
Accounts Payable Officer
to join our dynamic Finance team in Melbourne.
Reporting to the
Financial Controller
, you'll be responsible for managing Kokoda's financial obligations- from processing invoices and ensuring timely payments to maintaining accurate records and building trusted relationships with suppliers.
This is an opportunity to play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of Kokoda's financial processes, working closely with internal teams and external vendors to uphold the company's standards of excellence, precision and integrity.
About the Role
- Receive, review and verify invoices for accuracy and compliance with company policies
- Manage the end-to-end invoice process — from obtaining approvals and coding through to processing and recharging invoices to other entities
- Manage purchase orders and the workflow of purchase orders
- Prepare and process vendor payments in line with company terms and schedules
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve billing discrepancies promptly
- Process and monitor company credit card expenditure, ensuring timely and accurate reconciliations.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures
- Ensuring accurate and efficient processing of all accounts payable transactions
- Collaborate with the wider Finance team to ensure reporting accuracy and efficiency
- Maintain trust accounts and reconciliation on a monthly basis
- Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory obligations
About You
- Qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline is desirable
- Proven experience in an accounts payable or similar finance role, preferably within a property or construction business
- Proven experience performing effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles and financial processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems (e.g. Xero, Approval Max, Dext)
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities
- Clear communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset
- A team player who values collaboration, accuracy and continuous improvement
