Queensland Children's Hospital School is seeking a Workplace Safety & Injury Management Consultant to lead a review of WHS practices across multiple campuses in health settings.

The role focuses on streamlining processes, improving consistency, and developing clear, practical procedures.

Statewide travel is required and funded in line with the Domestic Travel Procedure.

About the School

Queensland Children's Hospital School provides specialised educational support across 25 sites throughout Queensland. This includes six campuses in Brisbane, 16 in regional areas, and three virtual campuses through the innovative Virtual Hospital Education Program. Our campuses are based in hospitals and Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) settings, offering flexible learning environments for students in need.

We support students from Kindergarten to Year 12 across state, Catholic, and independent schools. Our programs are based on the Australian Curriculum and are tailored to each student's individual needs. We work closely with base schools to ensure learning continues smoothly and transitions are well supported.

About the Role

As the Workplace Safety & Injury Management Consultant, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct a comprehensive review and assessment of current workplace health and safety (WHS) practices across all Queensland Children's Hospital School campuses.
  • Identify and document site-specific processes for emergency procedures, reporting lines, and staff consultation, particularly within diverse health settings.
  • Develop tailored, compliant emergency response plans for each campus in collaboration with health service partners and stakeholders.
  • Lead the delivery of the Annual Safety Assessment, focusing on the collection, analysis, and reporting of campus-specific WHS data.
  • Ensure alignment with departmental WHS policies while accommodating the unique operational needs of each site.
  • Provide expert advice and recommendations to drive continuous improvement in workplace safety and injury management across all campuses.
