The role of a Work Health and Safety Specialist is to maintain a safe and healthy work environment across the Youth Justice and Victim Support team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert guidance on Work Health and Safety, Workers Compensation and Rehabilitation, and Employee Wellness.
  • Implement departmental policies and procedures on Work Health and Safety and organisational wellbeing.
  • Design and implement initiatives to promote workplace safety and wellbeing.

As a Work Health and Safety Specialist, you will:

  • Perform rehabilitation and return-to-work coordinator functions under the Workers' Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003.
  • Assist in managing worker's compensation claims and rehabilitation activities.
  • Investigate workplace injuries, illnesses, and dangerous events, providing practical advice and recommendations.
  • Provide training and information on Work Health and Safety and workers' compensation issues.
  • Engage in hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk control activities.
  • Lead or participate in teams to improve workplace health and safety.

You will possess sound knowledge of Work Health and Safety legislation, regulations, and standards, including the Workplace Health and Safety Act 2011 and Workers' Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003.
