An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone to join our Human Resources team in a Full Time Capacity as a Workplace Health and Safety Assistant

Reporting to the Workplace Health and Safety Officer, this role will act as a key player in supporting the safety and wellbeing of all staff, visitors, and animals at Australia Zoo.
Key focus points of this role include Return to work Coordination for all Australia Zoo employees, administrative support to the Workplace Health and Safety Officer and digitalisation of all Workplace Health and Safety systems throughout the organisation.
**Duties May Include -**
- Demonstrating experience in responding to workplace incidents supporting incident investigations
- Providing a strong working knowledge of supporting injured workers and claims management
- Supports the development, implementation, monitoring and ongoing improvement of Workplace Health and Safety Systems
- Enforcing and implementing company standards of health and safety policies and initiatives.
- Assisting in employee 'Return-to-Work' processes and ensuring a safe return to work for all employees injuries in accordance with the Workers' Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003
- Assist with Development, implementation and reviews of health and safety policies and procedures for Australia Zoo.
- Assist with conducting regular safety audits and inspections to identify and address potential hazards.
- Provide training and education to staff on health and safety topics, such as emergency procedures and hazardous substance handling where appropriate.
- Assist with Incident Investigation and accidents, and suggest corrective actions to the Workplace Health and Safety Officer to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of safety activities, audits, inspections, and incidents.
- Assist with ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations.
- Act as a liaison with relevant regulatory bodies and external parties.
- Provide administrative support the Workplace Health and Safety Officer
- Complete regular data input and database audits

**Essential Criteria -**
- Rehabilitation and Return to work Coordinator Certificate
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety legislation and regulations within Australia, inclusive of legislation laws
- High level of professionalism and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to liaise with people of all natures
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft and Google Suite (including workbook, Document and Drive coordination)
- Proficient written communication and knowledge of professional language
- Experience and understanding of legislation that applies across different states and territories
- Experience facilitating discussions between Healthcare professionals and employees
- An approach to safety management that is dynamic organisation with creativity and flexibility
- Full availability, including weekends, public holidays and school holidays
- Proof of Coronavirus Vaccinations (unless otherwise exempt)
- General knowledge of Industrial Relations legislation
- Hold current Driver's Licence

- Cert IV in Workplace Training & Assessment - TAFE
- Drug & Alcohol Testing Accreditation
