Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Fleet Controller to join our Port of Brisbane site. This position will oversees daily fleet performance, container movements, and system accuracy, while maintaining strong communication with customers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders. This role also plays a key part in supporting team capability, cost control, and service delivery outcomes.


Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate wharf cartage movements to meet customer requirements in a cost-effective manner.
  • Allocate daily work and supervise drivers and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with WHS, Chain of Responsibility (CoR), and fatigue management regulations.
  • Manage fleet performance and reporting, including container movements within terminal slot windows.
  • Oversee P&L elements and implement cost control measures.
  • Maintain accurate system data (e.g., Maximas) – job uploads, futile trips, billing within 24 hours.
  • Ensure timely de-hire of empty containers to avoid detention charges.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to meet service levels.
  • Provide leadership, training, and support to the driver team.
  • Escalate or manage driver non-conformance as required.

What We're Looking For
  • Proven experience as a Fleet Controller in wharf cartage or a similar logistics environment.
  • Strong background in managing teams and subcontractors.
  • Solid understanding of CoR, WHS, and fatigue management requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and transport systems such as Maximas, Container Chain, and 1-Stop.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions during night operations.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, work well under pressure, and resolve issues promptly.
