The Role:
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Operations and Programs Manager to oversee the daily operations of our house museum, studio, and sculpture garden. This is a hands-on role perfect for someone who excels at both strategic planning and practical execution.
You will be responsible for managing operational revenue and budgets, building relationships with our community and partners, and supervising staff, volunteers, and interns. A key part of your role will be to co-plan, produce, and deliver engaging and innovative public and education programs that connect diverse audiences with our unique collection and story.
This is a part-time, flexible role, initially based on 90 hours per month, with a base annual remuneration of $35,600 plus superannuation. The position requires a flexible approach to work, including after-hours and weekend activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administration & People Management: Manage budgets, supervise staff and volunteers, and ensure all activities align with the Studio's strategic plan.
- Program Development & Delivery: Co-plan and deliver a diverse calendar of public and education programs, from workshops and talks to digital resources.
- Audience Engagement: Build and maintain strong partnerships with schools, community groups, and other organizations to broaden our reach and engagement.
- Strategic Contribution: Contribute to strategic planning, identify funding opportunities, and help build the Studio's profile within the arts and education sectors.
Selection Criteria:
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in education, museum studies, art history, or a related field.
- Proven experience in developing, delivering, and evaluating education and public programs in a cultural setting.
- Experience managing staff, contractors, and volunteers.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Experience in budget management and proficiency with digital platforms (e.g., WordPress, MailChimp, Eventbrite).
