Site Maintenance Supervisor - Operations and Maintenance (O&M)

Description
We are looking for enthusiastic, collaborative Site Maintenance Supervisor with a strong electrical background to perform and oversee the operations and maintenance of our solar plant projects. The position

This position is a hands-on leadership position responsible for the day-to-day oversight and operational excellence of the nominated sites and teams. This position is accountable for delivering the operational scope efficiently while maintaining strict adherence to safety standards, budget constraints, and timelines. Additionally, these roles require effective communication and coordination with external stakeholders, including owners, clients, and regulatory bodies.

Accountabilities

WHSEQ Leadership & Compliance

  • Promote and lead a strong WHSEQ and Zero Harm culture on site, encouraging reporting of safety concerns, supporting "speak up" initiatives, and leading campaigns and improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure full compliance with site-specific and company-wide WHSEQ requirements, including timely reporting and investigation of incidents and near misses.
  • Supervise and monitor WHSEQ performance of internal teams and subcontractors during standard operations and after hours.
  • Ensure all plant, equipment, tools, and PPE are fit for purpose and used correctly.
  • Ensure site and company-wide WHSEQ KPIs and compliance inspections are met.
  • Collaborate with site technicians to deliver O&M services hands-on, ensuring WHSEQ compliance.
  • Perform other duties as required to support safe and effective delivery of the O&M scope, maintaining safety standards and operational continuity.

Operations & Maintenance Delivery

  • Plan and manage labour resources, tools, and all required equipment and plant, with flexibility to support other sites and cover for Site Maintenance Supervisors.
  • Support the Project Manager and Site Maintenance Supervisors to deliver O&M contracts efficiently and minimise subcontractor reliance.
  • Lead ongoing maintenance planning and execution, coordinating daily and weekly work plans to meet contractual requirements.
  • Complete, review, and maintain Preventative Maintenance Plans (PMP) via the CMMS system and associated tracking spreadsheets.
  • Support site investigations and performance assessments with project and engineering teams.
  • Prepare reports including routine updates, ITPs, progress reports, and other status documentation.
  • Support development and implementation of O&M manuals, procedures, and plans.

Contractor & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Interface with clients and stakeholders to coordinate activities and manage documentation (e.g. work permits, SWMS).
  • Manage and supervise contractors on-site, ensuring coordination and WHSEQ compliance.
  • Identify, tender, negotiate, and manage local subcontractors, including scoping, estimating, and requesting quotations.
  • Manage site spares and consumables, and maintain accurate registers in line with commercial contracts.
  • Manage warranty claims and maintain accurate registers to ensure contractual compliance.

Technical Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and mentor the team to enhance technical knowledge and ensure safe work practices.
  • Ensure technicians have the required skills and knowledge to perform work safely.
  • Maintain site documentation including drawings, OEM manuals, procedures, and safety records.
  • Attend internal and external meetings as required.
  • Nominated Electrical Supervisor for the sites under the relevant state contractors licence
  • Serve as the primary contact under the NSP Operating Protocols for relevant sites

Technical Duties

  • Diagnose, repair, and test mechanical and electrical faults in solar systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Perform maintenance and corrective electromechanical work across key solar plant equipment (e.g. inverters, power stations, trackers, SCADA, auxiliary systems) in conjunction with site technicians.

General Support & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to maintain safety, compliance, and operational continuity across all site activities.

NOTE: Out-of-hours and varied overtime may be required to support operational needs and meet project deadlines.

Travel will be required regularly between sites, as well as head office, with the ability to stay away from home for short durations at a time.

Knowledge

Knowledge and/or application of Power Electronics for utility scale renewable projects

Basics of electrical engineering,

Main components of HV/LV systems and communication networks,

Utility scale solar or renewable Operations and Maintenance

Knowledge of working with SCADA systems, with the ability to monitor system performance, identify and diagnose faults, and take appropriate and required actions to address underperformance issues in a timely and effective manner

Skills
Safety management, including electrical risk management.

Strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication, and leadership capability.

Excellent organisational and time management skills.

Advanced computer literacy, including a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, with the ability to manage digital records, reporting tools, and maintenance systems.

Experience
Experience in the role of Site Manager on operational site is highly desirable.

Minimum 2 years in Operations and Maintenance experience of utility scale Solar or renewable projects (or transferrable experience)

HV Experience Preferred.
Experience and training in utility scale inverter technology preferred.

Qualifications
Electrical Qualification (Diploma/degree in Electrical Engineering/Electronics preferred) or other technical training to be evaluated

Electrical Licence for the relevant state (preferred; requirements may vary by location).

LVR/CPR certificate

First Aid certificate
