About the role:

Are you an experienced Grade 2 Speech Pathologist or a Grade 1 Speech Pathologist ready to take the next step in your career? An opportunity exists for someone to join our growing and supportive Speech Pathology team on a temporary basis (parental leave backfill). Primarily based at Sunshine Hospital with the opportunity to work at Footscray and Williamstown Hospitals, this role offers an exciting and rewarding opportunity to upskill in clinical care in the acute or subacute setting depending on your clinical experience, work in a collaborative multi-disciplinary environment and provide staff supervision and clinical education.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assess and manage dysphagia and communication impairment within the acute and/or subacute setting
  • Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Provide clinical supervision to staff and students
  • Be committed to continuous quality improvement, clinical research and professional development
  • Ensure safe and high-quality patient care is delivered in line with Western Health values and policies

About you:

  • Clinical competency, theoretical knowledge and experience in the assessment and management of communication and swallowing disorders within the acute or subacute setting
  • Competency in videofluoroscopy (tracheostomy competency also desirable)
  • Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia
