About the role

Our Community Paediatric Service is seeking a highly motivated Grade 3 Speech Pathologist to join our team. The Grade 3 Speech Pathologist fulfils a diverse role within the Paediatric Service at Melton Health hub and is responsible for providing leadership and supervision to Speech Pathology and broader allied health teams. The Grade 3 Speech Pathologist works collaboratively with the Paediatric leadership team to innovate and drive improvement initiatives. Experience in quality improvement and leadership are desirable attributes for this role.

The Speech Pathology team at Melton provide community-based services to children in the outer west. The role operates within a multidisciplinary team, working collaboratively to undertake assessment and to provide coordinated, evidence based and responsive interventions. The Speech Pathologist will engage effectively with families and carers to provide a family centred service that meets the needs of each child. The position works across a range of multidisciplinary clinics or programs and speech pathology specific services with opportunities to lead and participate in Autism Assessments, Feeding Clinics and Community Health outpatients.

This Speech Pathology position is based at the Western Health Melton site, but may work across a range of settings as required to provide high quality evidence based care to children and families residing in the Brimbank Melton and Moorabool regions.

  • Demonstrate extensive, evidence based specialist knowledge, clinical reasoning and competencies to lead and enhance patient care in area of practice
  • Provide high quality supervision to junior staff and students that is timely, flexible and responsible
  • Lead service development and evaluation through quality improvement activities or projects where appropriate.
