Student Support Officer

This newly created Student Support Officer position will enhance the Student Support Services team's work by providing high-quality, student-centred and family-focused support aligned with departmental and legislative requirements.
We are seeking a compassionate, proactive, and relationship-driven individual who will support students and
families, assist with whole-school wellbeing initiatives, and strengthen early intervention processes.

About the Role
The Student Support Officer will play a vital role in enhancing student wellbeing and engagement, fostering strong relationships with families, and promoting a positive school environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Build and sustain positive relationships with students, families, and the community to support engagement and wellbeing.
- Develop and implement innovative strategies for data management and intervention planning.
- Conduct home visits and liaise with families to encourage school attendance and address barriers to participation.
- Monitor student behaviour and wellbeing, identifying concerns and organising appropriate interventions.
- Lead initiatives to create a caring and supportive school environment for students, families, and community members.
This role would suit someone passionate about student wellbeing, family engagement, and fostering a positive school culture.
About You
The following traits would be beneficial:
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to mediate concerns and navigate sensitive conversations.
- Experience in building respectful relationships with young people and families.
- Understanding of wellbeing, engagement, and adolescent social/emotional development.
- Ability to identify concerns early and respond with professional judgement.
- Experience in managing confidential information and using data to inform decisions.
