AEMO at the Heart of Energy
AEMO is Australia's independent energy system and market operator and system planner. AEMO's purpose is to ensure safe, reliable and affordable energy today, and enable the energy transition for the benefit of all Australians. Australian governments are now committed to a net zero economy for Australia by 2050 and our vision is to enable this. We have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to co-design the future of our energy systems, and our core values revolve around character, commitment, and connection. Join us as we contribute to this significant transition in the energy sector.
About the role
The People and Culture Division plays a key role in supporting AEMO and our people to learn, lead and thrive as we navigate the energy future. We support our people to work in an environment that is adaptive, consumer-focussed on commercial. Our aim is to attract, develop and retain talent, build the skills and capabilities needed for the future, creating a culture that will enable people to thrive.
Join a strategic role where you'll shape the workforce planning agenda for the year ahead. As a Senior Workforce Analyst, you'll lead the development of a 12-month resource forecast that accounts for attrition, capability growth, and project demands. Your insights will drive integrated workforce planning across all divisions, ensuring alignment between headcount, financial resources, and organisational strategy.
You'll collaborate closely with Group Managers, Senior HR Business Partners, HR Services, and Finance to deliver accurate workforce reporting and governance. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives on data-driven decision making and cross-functional collaboration.
What you will be doing
- Proactively develop and communicate the annual workforce planning schedule and templates, ensuring alignment with key organisational milestones. You'll coordinate planning around financial budget cycles, divisional meetings, and annual business activities to support timely and effective workforce decisions.
- Prepare and administer planning tools in collaboration with key business stakeholders to support the development of 12-month (rolling) resource plan, including employee turnover, new capability builds and project work.
- Aggregate cross-functional data sources-including Success Factors, HR, Finance, and vendors, to drive informed planning decisions, while tracking data against approved budgets and resource plans to ensure alignment and accountability.
- Identify and implement opportunities to enhance workforce planning methodologies through predictive analytics and automation.
- Engage and collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders, adapting communication styles and strategies to deliver positive outcomes
- Stay current with best practices in resource planning and cost tracking to ensure AEMO leverages leading technologies and data-driven insights.
What you will bring to the role
- Tertiary level qualifications required. Relevant disciplines include Information Technology, Finance, Commerce, Human Resources or related disciplines.
- Proven experience in workforce planning, financial analysis, or resource management within a large-scale or complex organisational environment, ideally where strategic thinking and cross-functional collaboration are a key to success.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI), and strong capability in data analysis and forecasting methodologies.
- Demonstrate adaptability in evolving workforce planning models to meet changing business needs, while proactively identifying risks and implementing solutions to optimise resource management.
In return some of our benefits to you
- Flexible working: work from home, part time, job share, hybrid options, and additional leave options
- Professional development via projects, industry networks, job rotation, study assistance and more.
- Give back with up to 4 days of volunteering leave per year.
- Reward your hard work with annual performance bonuses (subject to eligibility).
- Embrace a healthier you with our wellness program, discounted health insurance, gym perks and our comprehensive Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
