Gulargambone has a population of 500 people and is situated on the Castlereagh River 120km north of Dubbo NSW. Gulargambone Central School has a student population of 107 from Kindergarten to year 12. 80% of students identify as Aboriginal.
Small class sizes and additional School Learning Support Offricers and Aboriginal Support Staff ensure that all students receive quality teaching and effective remedial support when needed. The school also has state of the art physical and technological facilities to support student learning.
The school is leading the way in improving student wellbeing and overcoming social disadvantage. A number of unique and effective programs have improved student engagement and created an atmosphere where students feel they belong and are cared for. The staff work as a supportive and collegial team with the students at the heart of all activities.
Selection CriteriaIn addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary.
Proven ability to be an accessible leader who fosters successful partnerships with key stakeholders and possesses exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate and manage the complexities of our school.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the complex educational and welfare needs of students from rural communities with low socioeconomic and high Aboriginal populations, to ensure specialist support is tailored to each child as required.
Demonstrated ability to initiate, implement and oversee whole school administration roles including timetabling, daily organisation of staff cover, variations to routine, employment of casuals and the development and implementation of rosters and schedules.
Outstanding interpersonal skills. Proven ability to inspire others and create an inclusive and supportive faculty.
Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
