Toongabbie West Public School is proudly located on Darug land in Western Sydney, within the Girraween network. We currently have 268 students enrolled, including seven Support Classes: three Hearing Support, three newly established Autism classes, and one Autism/IO class. Over 70% of students identify having language backgrounds other than English. Additionally, 5% of our students identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

Evidence-based practices are embedded to achieve our School Excellence Plan. We prioritise high expectations, expert curriculum knowledge, quality teaching practices and the tracking of student growth. Student performance data guides our decision-making, ensuring targeted support and ongoing progress in literacy, numeracy, wellbeing and attendance.

Selection Criteria- In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary with exceptional skill in leading the implementation of innovative, differentiated literacy and numeracy programs, including High Potential Gifted Education (HPGE) to embed evidence-based practices to inspire continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated use of evaluative practices at all levels to improve and monitor school wide improvement.
- Ability to lead staff in the implementation of curriculum requirements, use of syllabus documents and development of high-quality teaching and learning programs aligned with the NSW Curriculum and School Excellence Plan.
- Well-developed skills to build authentic relationships and lead inclusive, school-wide practices that foster strong educational partnerships and support the diverse needs of students, staff, and the wider community.
Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
