Position Information

Woolgoolga Public School is located in a rural, seaside town 23 kilometres north of Coffs Harbour. The school is situated upon the traditional lands of the Gumbaynggirr people and is a proud member of the Northern Beaches Community of Schools. Current student enrolment is 350 students, 15% identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, and 41% from Punjabi Sikh heritage.

Woolgoolga is seeking a dedicated and inspiring Assistant Principal to join our leadership team. In this key role, you will drive the school's strategic goals in line with the Department of Education's priorities. Working closely with the Principal, staff, and the wider school community, you will help build a positive, inclusive, research-based and supportive school culture.

We are looking for an exemplary classroom teacher with strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of explicit teaching practices, and expertise in literacy and numeracy development. The successful candidate will need to be passionate about supporting and developing capable staff and curriculum initiatives that promote continuous growth and excellent student outcomes.

Selection Criteria

In addition to the general criteria; approval to teach infants and/or primary.

  1. Demonstrated experience K-2 in explicit teaching and effective feedback, underpinned by high expectations.

  2. A visible, enthusiastic leader with a broad knowledge of policy and guidelines who motivates others and fosters a climate of fairness, collaboration and commitment.

  3. Demonstrated experience working as part of a dynamic leadership team, strategically planning, leading and monitoring initiatives and applying evidence-based practices to drive continuous improvement.

General Selection Criteria
  1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

  2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

  3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

  4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

  5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

  6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Special Notes

The commencement date for this position will be day 1 of the 2026 school year.
