About the Role
As an Assistant Accounts Officer, you will support the Finance team with day-to-day Accounts Receivable activities, including customer invoicing, end-of-month reporting, following up overdue accounts, and managing finance inboxes and stakeholder communications.
You will assist with maintaining accurate financial records, understanding customer contracts, and supporting ongoing process improvements, with a strong focus on accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with internal controls. Reporting to the FP&A Manager, you will also help improve reporting and finance processes where required.
Training will be provided in Xero and Streem CRM. A working knowledge of Excel or Google Sheets is required.
This part-time role is ideal for someone at the beginning of their accounting career who is looking to develop practical finance skills within a supportive and collaborative team.
What you'll be doing:
- Accounts Receivable — Ensuring that weekly and monthly billing is carried out correctly per Service-Level Agreements (SLAs);
- Customer maintenance, including Credit Control
- Manage relationships with external customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders of Streem;
- End of Month Reporting on Xero, including manual journals and preparation of balance sheet recs for review by Finance Manager
- Assist with Cash flow forecasting;
- Support the strategic direction of the finance team as set out by the CFO;
- Support the ongoing development of financial policies, management systems, controls and reporting tools to enhance financial and operational controls throughout Streem;
- Adhere to delegation of authority procedures;
- Assist the business Executives with the provision of financial information as required;
- Assist the CFO with process improvement projects, including reducing the number of days in the month end reporting process, cost reduction and quality programs;
- Other duties as determined by Streem from time to time.
What we're looking for:
- Ideally some level of experience in an accounting position;
- Preference for a Bachelors degree in Business or Accounting;
- Strong Attention to Detail
- Strong customer-facing skills with a focus on proactivity, and the ability to take initiative and adapt to changing situations.
- Strong problem-solving skills, and an ability to foster positive, healthy, and high-performing team culture.
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a sharp attention to detail;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Keen personal interest in the Australian Media Landscape;
- Media/news/content experience is highly advantageous;
- Sound understanding of Excel, Project Management Tools/CRM tools;
- Some experience working with an accounting software (Xero / Netsuite)
