As the Executive Manager, Architecture Risk, you'll play a pivotal Line 2 role partnering with architects, engineers, and risk professionals to strengthen architecture governance, control environments, and enable innovation within clear risk boundaries.

You'll use your architectural expertise to review, challenge, and guide how technology designs are developed and governed across the Group, ensuring we deliver resilient, secure, and scalable solutions that align with business strategy.

This role bridges deep technical architecture understanding with strong assurance and governance capability.
You'll act as a trusted advisor and challenger, engaging with senior architects, delivery leads, and business executives.
Your work will influence major design decisions, embed sustainable risk management practices, and shape how architecture assurance is applied across the enterprise.

Your day could look like (but not limited to):

• Providing independent review and challenge of architecture and design decisions to ensure alignment with CommBank's risk appetite and architectural principles.

• Partnering across architecture, engineering, and operational risk teams to build a consistent and collaborative "One Risk" culture.

• Delivering targeted assurance reviews across architecture and service domains, documenting insights and recommendations.

• Offering practical, value-adding guidance to uplift design quality, control effectiveness, and governance outcomes.

• Building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, balancing risk and innovation to support strategic delivery.

• Driving continuous improvement of architecture risk frameworks, standards, and assurance practices.

What you'll bring

We're looking for a proactive, strategic, and technically credible professional who's passionate about architecture and eager to expand into risk and governance.

You will have:

• Deep understanding of enterprise and solution architecture principles, ideally gained in banking or complex financial services environments.

• Proven experience delivering or reviewing large-scale architecture or design initiatives from inception to completion.

• Strong stakeholder engagement and influence skills, with the ability to challenge constructively and communicate effectively at senior levels.

• Experience in assurance or quality review of technical or architectural work (preferred but not essential).

• An interest and willingness to develop capability in risk management and apply risk-based thinking to architecture decisions.

• A growth mindset, resilience, and collaborative approach to working across diverse teams and disciplines.
